Using Social Media to Get Connected

Provide a brief overview of your past and present experience with social media. My experience with social media has changed from the past to the present. When I was using certain social media sites such as My Space etc., it was because everyone had an account- did you view the pictures this individual posted. Currently, my social media accounts are be connected with close family and friends. Social media if not used correctly, can be harmful.

Describe what social media tools you feel lend themselves to effective advocacy. The social media tools I feel lend themselves to effective advocacy are communication with all people from different walks of life. By the advocacy sites able to reach millions of people through social media is really assisting with the cause of advocating.
Identify how you might use these social media tools to educate and inspire others in your advocacy work.
The ways I would utilize social media to educate and inspire others in advocacy work are use the social media free site to create blogs, newsletters, and group pages to discuss the advocacy topic with the community.

Ask your colleagues for their suggestions and/or their help with using social media as a tool to promote advocacy efforts.
Colleagues- please feel free to provide other suggestions with using social media as a tool to promote advocacy efforts.

Using social media to connect with the world on impacting issues that can impact our children and families. I have never been a big fan of my space as a site to promote through social media, my go to sites are Facebook, Instagram, and linkedin.

  4. A source of communication is the best ways to show how social media can be used in the field of early childhood. I also feel it can be used to gain information and sell viewpoints of particular organizations. I think newsletters are great as long as they are being accessed on websites. As we know we are slowly moving past the age of giving parents or people a sheet of paper with information. I had similar views of how i became involved in social media as well, but I see ways that pictures and videos struck conversations on social media. This would be an aspect that would warrant examining to show others what advocacy issue you want to share.
